Employers are increasingly disclosing pay ranges now based on new pay transparency laws. Though not required in all states, many employers including CPA firms, are using the pay transparency practice to attract and retain talent.
Carolyn Tang Kmet interviewed OutSolve’s Neil Dickinson, VP of Compensation Services for Insight Magazine’s summer 2023 issue cover story. In this article, Neil discusses how pay transparency provides job seekers with greater leverage when it comes to negotiating pay. Employers also benefit from better efficiency in time-to-hire and best-fit hires when pay ranges are revealed to job applicants. The piece also explores how pay secrecy can have negative consequences for employers and how pay transparency can lead to greater equity in wages by forcing employers to be more thoughtful and equitable about salary decisions. The article also features several other subject matter experts in the area of pay transparency.
