Maya has over 20 years of experience in public policy, stakeholder engagement, and litigation centered on gender justice, economic security and women of color
On July 19, 2021, Maya Raghu was hired as the Deputy Director for Policy for the OFCCP. Prior to joining the agency Maya worked for the National Women’s Law Center (NWLC) as Director of Workplace Equality & Senior Counsel for over five years. In this capacity, she developed and coordinated priorities and strategies for the Center’s gender equality efforts, with a focus on low paid workers. She also led the development of federal policy initiatives, public education, and stakeholder engagement on a range of issues addressing women’s economic security and equality, including equal pay, harassment, and civil rights enforcement.
Maya’s employment before the NWLC was with the Futures Without Violence from 2010 to 2016, working as a Senior Attorney. In this role, she developed and managed a national project focused on workplace and gender-based violence issues. From 2004 to 2010, Maya at the Legal Momentum (formerly NOW Legal Defense and Education Fund) as a Senior Staff Attorney working on human rights, gender discrimination and economic security. In this position, she also represented plaintiffs in discrimination cases, engaged in legislative and public advocacy, and conducted legal and public education.
She was also previously an associate at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP for four years and a law clerk to the Hon. Vanessa D. Gilmore of the Southern District of Texas. She is a graduate of Trinity University and Georgetown University Law Center.
