Federal Contractor On-site Employees Must be Fully Vaccinated or Face Regular Testing and Other Requirements

President Biden warns that this may soon apply to all federal contractor employees

On July 29, 2021 President Biden issued a White House Fact Sheet to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 Delta variant and to strengthen safety protocols for federal employees and federal contractors working onsite at a government facility. In the Fact Sheet and at the press conference, President Biden announced that on-site federal contractor employees will be asked to “attest to their vaccination status.” Those who do not attest to be fully vaccinated will be required to: (1) wear a mask on the job; (2) physically distance from all other employees and visitors; (3) comply with a weekly or twice weekly testing requirement; and (4) be subject to restrictions on official travel.

Even though the directive only applies to onsite contractors, President Biden has warned all federal contractors wanting to do business with the federal government must “get [their] workers vaccinated.” This comes on the heels of the CDC’s Guidance for Fully Vaccinated People which recommends that both vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals wear masks in parts of the country where the rate of transmission of COVID-19 cases is high.
